IMPROVEDUpdated to PC*Miler 37 Worldwide data.

IMPROVEDPC*Miler 37 software patch updates options for routing trucks with 53-foot trailers
With this software patch, PC*Miler users now have two ways to generate routes for trucks with 53-foot trailers, including an additional option that creates more direct routes by taking advantage of state exemptions to the U.S. National Network. This option reflects a reduction in enforcement of the U.S. National Network and State Extensions in many states.
This patch is automatically available when the dataVersion parameter is set to Current, the default, or PCM37, the latest version released. The two options for routing 53-foot trailers when calling Routing APIs are:
- (Recommended) Set the profileName parameter to Heavy Duty Semitrailer or set the truck’s Length to 53 ft. With this option, the routing algorithm takes into account state-by-state exemptions to the requirement that 53-foot trailers adhere to the National Network. This option was introduced in the June release of PC*Miler 37, and it produces more direct and sometimes shorter routes that are safe and legal.
- Set the
ClassOverridesparameter toNationalNetwork. With this option, the routing algorithm always adheres to the National Network and does not take advantage of the state exemptions. This matches the behavior of PC*Miler 36 and earlier. It was added in this patch release and not available in the June release of PC*Miler 37. It resolves some differences users may have seen in mileage calculations between PC*Miler 36 and 37, when using the National Network setting alone, without entering the vehicle’s length.

IMPROVEDThe Geocoding APIs and other APIs that return geocoded location information now include a field titledTimeZoneAbbreviation. It returns the currentTimeZoneabbreviation for the region, taking into account Daylight Savings Time. -
IMPROVEDIn Reverse Geocoding API calls, vehicle dimensions are now taken into account to determine whether to return auto speed limits or jurisdiction wide (JWR) speed limits for trucks. (Speed limits require an add-on license. Contact us for more information.) -
IMPROVEDTwo new alerts were added to the Trip Management API’s notifications service. An approaching alert is triggered when an asset is within a certain range of a stop. A dwell exceeded alert notifies the back office when an asset has exceed the expected dwell time at a stop by more than 10 percent. -
FIXEDFixed issues with how country/state information is returned in state reports, which provide a summary of mileage by state/country. -
FIXEDFixed an issue where umlauts were missing from names in reports requested in German.

IMPROVEDThe following updates were made to the Single Search Geocoding API:- Improved address matching with Points of Interest (POIs) and better standardized the addresses returned with POIs.
- Several improvements were made to how custom places are handled:
- Only results from the worldwide region specified in the search URL are returned.
- Search now better differentiates between custom (private) places created by fleets and Trimble (public) places that are available to all users.
- When Search finds custom places via reverse geocoding, an address is now returned with the place.

PC*Miler 37 Version Release
With each new version, PC*Miler’s routing algorithm and map data are enhanced to generate the best routes and the most accurate travel times and distances for your vehicles. Improvements since version 36 include:
-
IMPROVEDImproved routing for 53-foot trailers: U.S. federal law dictates that truck/trailer combinations with width greater than or equal to 102 inches, trailer length greater than or equal to 53 feet, or both, must stay on designated State and National Network roads to the maximum extent possible. Many states, however, provide specific exemptions to this national rule. Recent improvements to the PC*Miler routing algorithm account for these exemptions. As a result, the algorithm generates more practical routes with increased freedom to travel off the network in areas where exemptions exist. -
IMPROVEDRV/Caravan routing: The Routing APIs now provides safe and legal routing for RVs (also called caravans in some regions) based on the default dimensions in these charts. To calculate an RV route, set theprofileNametoRV. This setting is not compatible with older versions of PC*Miler sodataVersionmust beCurrent, which is the default setting, orPCM37. -
IMPROVEDEnhanced turn restrictions: In order to help prevent trucks from taking potentially unsafe U-turns, hundreds of thousands of new turn restrictions have been added to our North America map data. This results in better routing in downtown areas with complex road networks and turn structures. -
IMPROVEDEnhanced road closure support: Several improvements were made to help ensure the routes PC*Miler selects avoid road closures and more strictly adhere to other Routing Preferences:- Settings such as Elevation limits, Vehicle Type restrictions, and Hazmat restrictions, as well as data such as time-based closures, now effectively act as road closures in most cases. Previously, these settings would greatly influence the route PC*Miler selects, but they would not always result in strict closures on certain roads.
- Indefinite road closures are now avoided in routes whether or not the trip has a departure date. Previously, they were only applied when a trip had a start date.
-
FIXEDRouting bug fixes:- Fixed bugs around Hours of Service (HOS) off-duty time clocks to track the inactive driver’s clocks when Team Driving.
- Fixed an issue that prevented Gate Path routing to a Site from being properly applied in some cases.
-
IMPROVEDMap data updates: Version 37 includes all of the road map data updates in North America starting at Q2.1 2022 and ending with Q2 2023. Some highlights include:- 413 new construction road projects were added
- Over 49,000 new POIs were added to the Places Database
- Over 43,000 new site locations were coded, including distribution centers, retail storefronts, manufacturing plant, and truck stops and service centers
- More than 8,700 miles of new highway-level network was added to the United States
- Truck through-travel restrictions were updated within over 850 city limits
- More than 11,000 customer-reported issues were fixed

IMPROVEDA new response field in the Reverse Geocoding API, TimeZoneOffset, displays a location’s time zone as an offset to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). The format is “GMT{offset}.” For example, “GMT-5:00” for Eastern Standard Time in North America or “GMT+1:00” for the Western European Time Zone. -
IMPROVEDBatch POST Route Reports now display an error message when one of the routes cannot be calculated. -
